An Interview With Chaz Mazzota

Tells us about the song you are performing  for the Nashville Pop Artist Spotlight. What is it about?

“best” is the first song I actually wrote for a girl I was dating. I may not get It right all the time, but I’m always giving my best. This was a promise to keep things In the positive despite the misunderstandings and differences in our joint journey.

Surprisingly, she did NOT like the song and made It very clear during my first time singing It for her. Talk about life taking a turn :)

What first got you into music? How did the journey begin?

“According to my mom, I was singing before I could walk… crawling around wailing the Barney Theme song. When it comes to the technicals, I started choir in 3rd grade, picked up the bar scene at age 16. Later that year, I built a recording booth in my bedroom, connected an old computer with Garageband and journey hasn’t stopped..

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

“I focus on creating a soundscape that hits the vibe of the moment. but in a general sense, I’m singer/songwriter - pop with some beach/groove mixed in. I NEED TO BE MOVING.”

What does your music represent?

My music shares my message and my lifestyle. It’s my perspective. In fact, it’s perspective in general. I’m all about

“feeling your feelings”

“the hustle”

“the grind”

“going with the flow” ...and overall

— Being in the Moment.

What is your creative process like?

“Music strikes me like a lightning bolt. Not often but when it does, i’m IN. I always start with the sounds. The music, the melody, event the shape of the vowel sounds. Lyrics come last with me -sorry, not sorry.”

If you were to open for any 3 artists, who would they be?

“Allen Stone, Andy Grammer, Dave Barnes”

What is the best advice you’ve been given so far in the music industry?

“you do you”

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

“Working alongside businesses and individuals capturing and creating content around the world.”

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

“This is life. These are REAL people with REAL lives - and when someone not only resonates, but takes time to SHARE that connection with me. It feels like Heaven on Earth.”

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives such as yourself?

“Much of what you see today Is designed to distract you - to pull you away from the REAL world and disconnect you from things you love most. This Is done through Information overload and a never-ending “to-do-list” of Improvements before you can even actually start.

To support Artists, Its best to dive Into THEIR experiences and connect on an Individual/personal level. Ask how to support. Ask to get Involved - Just ask.”
