An Interview With Gracie Carol

Tells us about the song you are performing  for the Nashville Pop Artist Spotlight. What is it about?

"The song I’ll be performing is my new recent single, “Vital Signs” I’ve been creating a project based off of a medical heartbreak. What started it off was heartburn, to feeling the symptoms, and now checking the the signs. This song is to signify new beginnings after a breakup.”

What first got you into music? How did the journey begin?

“Hearing country music for the first time. I started performing, singing, dancing, acting.. you name it, at such a young age. I had some big life changing moments as a teenager to help create this vision of my future I’ve always had believed in for me. And that has always been creating and performing music. No matter where it takes me, I hope one day music brings as much love back to me as I loved it my whole life.”

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

“Country Pop, feel good, breakup bops. I like to connect with an audience. I love to get together with writers and create one story out of all of our own original stories that we’ve been through. It’s the songs that hit close to my heart and are what I’m going through in that exact moment that we write and I decide to release that’s exciting about how I create them. Or it’s songs that I’ll write and not have anything to do with them until 3 years later.”

What does your music represent?

“Goodness, getting through and figuring out life together no matter the bad”

What is your creative process like?

“I love to write poetry. Most of the time I think of songs becuase of little ideas I make out of a poem, and it sometimes will turn into a melody. So I’ll take those songs and bring them to other co writers in town and create a track and a whole story line out of them. There are so many we we can start to make a song, but that’s always my favorite. It’s pretty fun.”

If you were to open for any 3 artists, who would they be?

“Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll”

What is the best advice you’ve been given so far in the music industry?

“Be authentic, find your niche, and stay unique. That creates the best music.”

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

“I’d be an actor ✨ or professional softball player”

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

“That I get to do it everyday and help others go through similar process I’ve been through just because I write music 🥲”

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives such as yourself?

“Put more independent artist on the radio and tour.”
