An Interview With Claressa
Tells us about the song you are performing for the Nashville Pop Artist Spotlight. What is it about?
“I'm performing my two newest songs- What If & Different With You”
What first got you into music? How did the journey begin?
“I grew up in a musical family so I always loved listening & being around music. I found a band doing cover songs and from there, I knew I loved performing but I wanted to do it with my own music & write my own songs.”
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
“I typically create pop music- I do a few different genres of pop like indie/ acoustic/ folk/ dance”
What does your music represent?
“It represents how personal experiences can be so universal - finding healing and joy through the songs”
What is your creative process like?
“I usually sit down at the piano and write what comes to me, or I'm inspired by what other people say in my daily life. If I'm in the studio, I'll mess around with a couple of different ideas and melodies with my producer and we will go from there!.”
If you were to open for any 3 artists, who would they be?
“Julia Wolf, The Marias, ROSE”
What is the best advice you’ve been given so far in the music industry?
“Keep going, keep evolving and keep making the art you love!”
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
“If it wasn't my music career, I would be a yoga instructor”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
“A way of self-expression, getting to know other amazing creatives, and becoming closer to God through my art”
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives such as yourself?
“Go to shows of smaller artists! Buy their merch, listen to their music.”
