Tells us about the song you are performing for the Nashville Pop Artist Spotlight. What is it about?
"Boys R Messy is about the stereotypical kind of guy who breaks your heart. It’s not just his room or kitchen that aren’t put together, but it turns out he is emotionally messy as well.”
What first got you into music? How did the journey begin?
“I’ve been drawn to music since I was a child. My dad always played music for us and as soon as I started talking I was singing. I listened to music 24/7 and made up little songs and when I got older I started really working on that craft. It wasn’t until I was 19 that I started writing songs consistently, though, but knew I always wanted to.”
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
“Honestly, it really varies. I don’t like to limit myself to a certain genre. I just write what feels good :)”
What does your music represent?
“My music represents creativity, honesty, and vulnerability. A lot of it is from real experiences of mine or someone I know, and sharing those feelings in hopes that someone else hears it and relates to it.”
What is your creative process like?
“Sometimes it starts with an idea in a co write, if I’m by myself I might have a melody I like or a phrase I want to use and I build it of that. Sometimes I will start playing something on guitar or piano and that will inspire the song!”
If you were to open for any 3 artists, who would they be?
“Gracie Abrams, Ashe, Katelyn Tarver”
What is the best advice you’ve been given so far in the music industry?
“Surround yourself with people that are better than you!”
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
“opening a coffee shop in Rio de Janeiro… I might still one day”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
“Working with other creatives and seeing how it opens doors of my creativity that wouldn’t have opened if I were by myself, and Getting to share my music with the world”
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives such as yourself?
“If you like what someone is doing, share it with other people. Tell people about them. Buy merch! (I don’t have any but I know it helps) even just saying encouraging words to them”
