An Interview With Kyra Morgan
Tells us about the song you are performing for the Nashville Pop Artist Spotlight. What is it about?
“I’m performing addicted 2 u which is my recent release about trying to quit someone but the withdrawal from them hits you like a drug. the second song i’m doing is called rebecca syndrome and it takes the feeling of jealousy and turns it into a person you wish you could be.?
What first got you into music? How did the journey begin?
“i’ve always loved writing songs, my earliest memory of it was singing a made up song to my sister about eating corn chips when i was 4 and the love grew from there.”
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
“dramatic yet relatable music you can blast in the car at 2am or on the dance floor”
What does your music represent?
“my music represents emotional release. it’s all the feelings i’ve been holding in poured out into songs”
What is your creative process like?
“a majority of my songs are actually written with no instruments, i just hear the melodies and instruments in my head. i later take it to my producer or band and we flesh it out to make it a full song!”
If you were to open for any 3 artists, who would they be?
“julia michaels, oston, or dylan”
What is the best advice you’ve been given so far in the music industry?
“comparison is the thief of joy. you have your own unique perspective and stories that you bring to the table, own it.”
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
“i’d probably be doing something health and fitness related!”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
“being able to lift other creatives up and growing together in your journeys while you teach each other what you know from your unique skill set”
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives such as yourself?
“show up to shows, interact with media posts, and stream our songs.”
